  • Duet is a humanitarian startup company with the mission of helping refugee families located in Greece by connecting them with donors who consist of both Gen Z & Millennials.

  • Their operations are located in Lesvos, Greece because there are currently over 50,000 refugees resettling in Greece; it is the gateway to safety in Europe for many Syrian and Afghan refugees. They also operate in Los Angeles as well since most of their team is currently located in the LA community.

  • Duet was founded by USC graduates who were inspired by a trip to Greece during their time in a college engineering course that opened their eyes to inefficiencies in humanitarian aid.

  • Duet was started to address the incredible mismatch between donations and what beneficiaries actually needed in most humanitarian organizations and refugee camps.

  • Refugees are given the “dignity of choice” so that they are free to choose the exact items they need to rebuild their lives unlike most other humanitarian organizations.

  • Duet supports and partners with local stores and businesses in Greece that have been hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Duet replaces faceless charity with one-to-one connections where donors are provided a personable experience and complete transparency of how their money is helping refugees.

  • 100% of all donations go to refugee beneficiaries. There is an opt-out operational support tax of 15% that helps Duet cover overhead costs, but it’s completely optional. This support tax does not take any portion of the donation amount.

  • As of December 2020, Duet has received $66,987 in donations from 505 donors, which has helped 129 refugee beneficiaries all over the world and led to the donation of 929 items and 1,146 meals.

  • Duet has launched a matching donation drive where each donation will be matched to deliver twice the life-changing impact where it is needed the most.

  • Duet has partnered with the UCSB chapter of the American Marketing Association for a student ambassadorship program aiming to reach more potential college donors.

  • During the “12 Days With Duet” series, 12 socially-conscious organizations partnered with Duet to help bring awareness to a diverse range of organizations that each have a unique positive social impact in the world we live in.

  • Duet partnered with socially-minded fitness professionals for a virtual fitness series called “Reps for Refugees” where participants attended free classes and were encouraged to donate to a great cause.

  • Duet partnered with Chef Hwoo, the founder of pop-up restaurant Maru Los Angeles in a free virtual cooking class where participants were encouraged to make donations to Duet’s COVID-19 Relief Fund after learning how to prepare Roy Choi’s Short Rib Tacos.

  • Duet has partnered with the UNHCR to support resettled refugee families arriving from all over the world.
